Living in Hillcrest
Hillcrest is a historic district in Fort Worth located a bit southwest of downtown, within the triangle formed by Camp Bowie Boulevard, I-30 and Montgomery Street. It was originally planned in the early 1900s as Chamberlin Arlington Heights, with development delayed by World War I. After the Camp Bowie military base was built nearby on donated land and later closed, its utilities allowed home construction to fill in during the 1920s and 30s and again after World War II. The district is close to the Fort Worth Cultural District and a quick drive up Camp Bowie Boulevard, known for its red-brick pavement, to downtown.
